Everybody is talking about Brands and Communication these days. And despite the presence of so many agencies and communication experts, it is not uncommon to see many brands failing after a great start. The business of communication today has too many gaps. Unclear positioning, unrealistic marketing or communication goals, haphazard information and of course the clutter on social media pages are just a few.

An effective brand communication programme today must be very accurate. Digital tools available to us make the process of identifying our markets, people and their behaviours very accurately. But the bigger challenge is in saying the right thing at the right time to the right audience. This is where S&A fills in the gap.

S&A to me is a “creative hot-house”. Fresh with ideas, high energy, new-age and bang on. I personally have had the opportunity to work with brands such M.Tarun Diamonds, Jade by Monica & Karishma, Soul Tree, HDFC Bank, and many more. With each of these brands, we had the opportunity to help them go beyond transactional. It was about establishing a bond based on shared values, outlook and experiences to create a community or ecosystem of like-minded people.

Ordinary to me has always been boring. And that is probably why, even when I did not know which career path to choose, I knew the mundane was not for me. A chance peek into the advertising world and I knew I found my calling. Starting with a brief stint at MAA (an erstwhile TBWA associate), my life has taken me through many journeys, though communication, design and advertising have always stayed with me in various forms.

I believe that in the world of marketing and communications, there may not always be the “best way” to do things, but there certainly can be “your way”. I started young, moving from India to the azure blue waters of this beautiful island country, Bahrain. Starting off with a boutique design agency, Contexture, where I stayed for 5 years, working with several prestigious clients such as Arab Insurance Group, Bahrain Telephone Co (Batelco), Bahrain Stock Exchange, and many more, I moved on to TBWA\ Bahrain where I spent over 6 years, in the midst of all the action. Our agency was a part of TBWA Middle East and being part of the regional team helped me grow. I got to work with big brands, big ideas, and big change. The “Disruption” theory became my lodestar. Brands like Nissan Infiniti, Etihad, SCB, to name a few are some brands I am proud to have been associated with.

“Change has been for the better”. Leaving the exotic hills of Assam, I started my journey as a Trainee Visualizer at O&M in 1990 and was instantly at ease in the glitzy world of Advertising in Mumbai city. These were my first steps after having graduated from Sir JJ School of Applied Arts. With stars in my eyes and hope in my heart I moved onto iB&W, Avenues and finally landed on the far-flung shores of Bahrain. Starting anew with a boutique Agency, Contexture, I had the opportunity to dabble in Corporate Identity projects, gaining tremendous experience before returning to advertising at TBWA where I spent nearly 10 years continuing to evolve with changing times. Signing off my last few years with another boutique Agency, Carbon, today, I return home with renewed enthusiasm, waiting to discover more. I have had the opportunity to work with leading global brands such as Nissan, Infiniti, SCB, BNP Paribas, BCBG Maxazria, Laundry by Shelly Seagal, Ritz-Carlton, Hyundai, H.Stern, Etihad, Sony, PlayStation and more.

Over the past 3 decades, I have seen style and trends gradually evolve in the field of communication design. With the advent of technology in typography‭, ‬photography‭, ‬videography and graphic design‭; speed‭, ‬precision‭ and ‬accuracy have become the hallmarks of today’s world of design‭.‬
